A Comparative Study of Industrial Competitiveness in China

Abstract

Industrial competitiveness is a sign of the strength of economic development in the mid-industrialized countries or regions. Therefore, it is of great significance to correctly evaluate the industrial competitiveness of a region and compare it with other regions. Find out the advantages and the gaps ,and put forward countermeasures to promote regional industrial development and economic growth. Based on the statistical data of 2000 and 2004, this paper makes a comparative study on the industrial competitiveness of 29 provinces by means of factor analysis. It is found that the main factors influencing the regional industrial competitiveness are technological innovation, scale output, infrastructure Conditions, market development and output efficiency. To narrow the gap, the region should enhance industrial competitiveness from these five aspects.
