Can the Development of Financial Inclusive Empower the Upgrading of Rural Residents' Consumption Structure? —Empirical Testing Based on the QUAIDS Model

Abstract: Based on the perspective of consumption imitation and consumption preference, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of financial inclusive development on the upgrading of rural residents, consumption structure by combining China's provincial panel data and CHFS data from 2011 to 2020. The measurement results of financial inclusive development indicate that at present, China’s financial inclusive is in the middle to high level of development, fully reflecting the fundamental development characteristics of “inclusivity”; Further empirical testing by constructing the Bray-Curtis index and QUAIDS model reveals that the development of inclusive finance plays a significant role in promoting the gradual convergence of rural residents, consumption structure with urban residents, consumption structure. With the deepening and breadth of the use of inclusive finance, the consumption structure of rural residents has achieved a primary to advanced transformation. Based on the above research conclusions, in order to ensure the effectiveness of inclusive financial development in promoting the upgrading of rural residents, consumption structure, we should actively promote the development of inclusive finance in rural areas, enhance the availability of funds and financial resources for rural residents, and enhance the accessibility of inclusive financial services for rural residents.
