Abstract: Based on individual and household data in the CHFS database, supplementary information variables were used to measure multidimensional poverty among the elderly population in China. Regional differences in multidimensional poverty among the elderly population were compared, and the poverty reduction effects of different levels of pension insurance and medical security on elderly poverty were analyzed. Empirical research shows that with the continuous deepening of information technology, information poverty presents more significant characteristics, and the impact of information dimension on multidimensional poverty of the elderly population exceeds the traditional dimensions of income, assets, health, consumption, and psychology in poverty. In terms of poverty reduction effects, urban and rural residents' pension can effectively alleviate income and asset poverty, while urban employees' pension can effectively alleviate poverty in all six dimensions; Urban and rural residents' medical insurance has a significant impact on poverty reduction in the asset, income, and psychological dimensions of the elderly population, while urban employees' medical insurance can effectively alleviate poverty in six dimensions. Therefore, as China's aging population continues to deepen, more attention should be paid to the relationship between material and non material poverty among the elderly population, especially the poverty reduction effect brought about by expanding the information dimension. At the same time, targeted social security policies should be implemented for the elderly groups of urban and rural residents and employees.
