Abstract: This paper analyzes the short － term effects of job turnover on laborers＇income based on CHNS’s panel data from year 2009 to 2011． The results show that for the two groups who have the similarity in individual characteristics，the short － term income of those who have experienced job turnover is lower than those who haven＇t changed their jobs． That is to say，job turnover takes a cut of labors＇short － term pay on average． But such an issue produces a different effect on the dif ferent income groups． For the low income groups，the action of job turnover has a positive impact on their short － term in come; while for the high income groups，its impact is negative．
