Abstract

This paper constructs the panel smooth conversion model, and uses the provincial panel data from 2003 to 2013 to study the influence of human capital agglomeration on the upgrading of industrial structure. The result not only supports the existence of "U" type relationship between human capital agglomeration and industrial structure upgrading, but also shows that the human capital agglomeration has a threshold effect on the economic development level of industrial upgrading. The eastern provinces with relatively developed economy have entered the positive impact stage of human capital agglomeration on the upgrading of industrial structure, and most provinces in the central and western regions have not yet crossed the threshold of economic development level. Human capital agglomeration is not conducive to the improvement of industrial structure in these provinces. Furthermore, in order to overcome the endogenous problem caused by the two-way causal relationship between human capital agglomeration and industrial structure upgrading, this paper constructs the simultaneous equation model to re-test and finds that the results are consistent with the results of the panel smooth conversion model, indicating that the conclusion is very good The robustness
